The Date Outdoors

Walkers' Coach are delighted to be the UK walking partner of the Date Outdoors and together we look forward to bringing people together to build friendships and perhaps to find that special 'one'.

To join the Date Outdoors and get access to many varied events and discounts too, click here

As a start Walkers' Coach  are offering a range of monthly walks in London. All you have to do is choose the one below that suits you and email me to join in.

26th April 2008, 10.00 – 2.30   A slice of the Capital Ring with lunch on route

This 6 mile walk with Sunday lunch is a bit hilly giving you the opportunity to enjoy some great views and also to tone up those buttocks! Starting at the Greenford tube station, it’s a street start but not for long. The walk soon takes us along the Grand Union  Canal, then around Horsenden Hill and along some roads which take us through the very pretty village of Harrow on the Hill where we will probably have lunch. Lunch costs are not included in the walk. After lunch we’ll pass the famous school and some of their playing fields, pass close to Northwick Park Hospital, skirt North Wembley and finish up at South Kenton underground station.

£17.50  is the charge to all but a discounted rate of £14.00 if you are a Date Outdoors Full member.

18th May 2008, 10.00 - 12.00  Greenwich and Blackheath followed by a pub lunch

Starting at the Cutty Sark we’ll explore a little of the Thames before walking through the wide open spaces of Greenwich Park. It’s a bit of an uphill here as I remember well from the closing stages of the 60k Aviva Walk in 2006. The views are worth it though, and once there you can ease off for the flat walk across Blackheath. We’ll take a turn around the village before returning (downhill this time) to Greenwich and do some exploring there too. If markets are your thing, build in some extra time.

Food costs are not included in the walk cost which is £17.50 including VAT but full members of Date Outdoors will be charged at the discounted rate of £14.00 including VAT. We’ll have a pub lunch at the end of the walk.

21st June 2008, 10.00 - 2.30  Walk London's Iconic Sites

Enjoy a 7 mile central London walk in good company and with a view of many of London’s iconic sites. You’ll see the Gherkin, The Golden Hind, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and St Paul's to name just a few. The walk starts and ends at London Bridge station and follows the Thames for most of the route. You’ll discover hidden gems which you’ll want to revisit and we’ll celebrate the end of this walk with a well deserved pub lunch or just a pint if you prefer (payment for this is not included in the walk cost).

Costs are £17.50 including VAT but full members of Date Outdoors will be charged at the discounted rate of £14.00 including VAT.

20th July 2008, 10.00 – 2.30   Hampstead and the Heath followed by a pub lunch

This is a 5 mile walk. Meeting at Hampstead Underground Station at 10.00a.m., this circular walk takes us by historic houses and a number of gardens which you can return to and explore.  Spot the Henry Moore sculpture, the open air stage and perhaps some deer. With its fair share of history, the heath is beautiful in all weathers especially at bluebell time. There’ll be a pub lunch at the end of the route which is not included in the cost of the walk to allow as much flexibly of tastes as possible.

Full price for the event is £17.50 including VAT but full members of Date Outdoors will be charged at the discounted rate of £14.00 including VAT.

20th September 2008, 10.00 – 2.30   Limehouse to Islington followed by a pub lunch

A six mile walk which shows off the rejuvenation of this part of London, and introduces you to an East End that you may not be familiar with. Keeping to the canal we’ll pass by areas of wildlife, new canal front developments and Victoria Park. It’s a level, easy walk offering you lots of opportunity to chat to the other walkers and when we get to Islington we can grab a bite to eat or drink and you can browse the shops and markets if you choose. (Lunch costs are not included so you can choose to have what suits you, even if that is just a drink)

Full price for the event is £17.50 including VAT but full members of Date Outdoors will be charged at the discounted rate of £14.00 including VAT.

19th October 2008, 10.00 – 2.30  Canary Wharf to London Bridge followed by lunch/drink

From Canary Wharf station, we’ll head down to the Thames and follow this along for a short while, then onto a rather pretty street with many pubs but at this stage probably a little early to stop.

For the next while our journey will take us on and off the Thames Path as new developments prevent continued walking on the riverside. However, the area is a very interesting one to explore and many of you may never have been there before. We’ll pass the once open Rotherhithe Foot Tunnel and again find ourselves in small streets where the old and new sit well together. Our walk will end at Tower Bridge and from there we can have lunch in St Katherine’s Dock or on the other side of Tower Bridge.

Full price for the event is £17.50 including VAT but full members of Date Outdoors will be charged at the discounted rate of £14.00 including VAT.

22nd November  2008, 10.00 – 2.30   Rolling down to Regent's Park

Well it is down hill but not all the way so at least you know that you'll get a workout. From East Finchley tube station, we make our way south taking in as many parks and areas of green space as we can until we end up on the verges of civilisation at Bakers Street tube. This is a great walk through some lovely areas and wonderful in all weathers. A great chance to explore new areas and plenty of opportunity to chat.

Time at the end of the walk to grab a drink, coffee or lunch, whichever you fancy. Costs are £17.50 and only £14.00 if you are a full Date Outdoors member.
